African American Women
The attitudes and behavior of African-American consumers can differ significantly from consumers in other groups, therefore segmentation in marketing strategies can be critical to increase organizational growth and revenue. Why would you want to specifically target this population group? A new report from Packaged Facts, The African-American Market in the U.S. forecasts that the buying power of 39 million African Americans will hit $1.1 trillion by 2012. Black, Hispanic, Asian-American and other multicultural women already wield buying power in excess of $1 trillion and are the primary decision-makers in the vast majority of their homes.
Afro-European Women
The council of Europe estimates that there are between 3.5 and 8 million black people residing in Europe. Europeans of African descent are mainly concentrated in Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. The population of Black Europeans continues to grow dramatically, according to the Council of Europe and Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research.
Expatriates (expats)
The newly released Expat Explorer Survey from HSBC Bank International reports Asia is home to among the highest paid expats in the world. The highest proportion of expats earning more than US$250,000 are in Russia (30%), followed by Hong Kong (27%), Japan (26%), Switzerland (25%) and India (25%) compared with a global average of 16%. The lowest-paid expats live in Australia and Belgium, with the majority (63% and 61% versus 35% overall) of expats earning under US$100,000.
